International transport is subject to customs, safety, sanctions and export-control rules. This page is a practical warning list, not an exhaustive legal list and not permission to ship an item. Requirements can change by country, route, carrier and type of goods.
Do not load or conceal goods that are illegal, stolen, falsely described, sanctioned, undeclared dangerous goods, or goods you are not authorised to ship. TGL may refuse, pause or cancel coordination where information is incomplete, inconsistent or raises a compliance concern.
Weapons, ammunition & explosives
Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks and related controlled items may be prohibited or require specific licences and carrier approval.
Drugs, controlled substances & illegal goods
Narcotics, unlawful medicines, contraband, stolen goods, counterfeit goods and other prohibited items are not accepted.
Dangerous & hazardous goods
Batteries, chemicals, fuel, gas cylinders, aerosols, paints, solvents and other dangerous goods must be disclosed before booking and may require classification, packaging, labels and documents.
Sanctioned / export-controlled / dual-use goods
Goods, technology, parties, destinations or end uses may be restricted by German, EU or international sanctions and export-control rules. Additional checks or licences may be required.
Cash, valuables & sensitive items
Cash, negotiable instruments, precious metals/stones, high-value valuables and similar items require prior written confirmation and may not be accepted.
Animals, plants, food, medicines & biological goods
These can require health, veterinary, phytosanitary, pharmaceutical or import/export permits and must be disclosed in advance.
Waste, scrap & environmental goods
Waste, used electronics, certain scrap, chemicals and environmentally regulated materials may be subject to special cross-border rules or prohibitions.
Vehicles & machinery
Ownership/purchase documents and VIN/chassis details may be required. Fuel, batteries, personal effects and goods hidden inside vehicles must be declared and must comply with carrier/customs rules.
Your responsibility before loading
- ✓ Describe the goods truthfully and completely.
- ✓ Tell TGL before booking if anything may be dangerous, restricted, controlled or unusual.
- ✓ Keep invoices, ownership documents, packing lists and supplier/customer details.
- ✓ Do not accept unexplained sealed packages from third parties for loading.
- ✓ Keep a record of what was loaded and record the container seal number where applicable.
- ✓ Obtain any licence, permit or approval for which you are legally responsible.
TGL coordinates logistics and may rely on information supplied by the customer/shipper. TGL does not provide a guarantee that an item is legally exportable/importable merely because a quotation or booking has been issued. Customs, carriers and competent authorities may inspect, refuse, detain or require additional documentation.
